We promised you a winner today and a winner we have chosen with mere minutes to spare.
We want to say thank you to everyone who submitted litter theme ideas for our 2009 Striker x Kadie puppies. There were so many great ideas that it has taken us all day to consider each and every one before selecting our favorites. It was clear that each entry was carefully considered before submission and we truly appreciate each and every participant and their ideas.
The winning theme is: Woodcrest’s Starry Night
Thank you to Leigh of Go Fetch Gifts for submitting this theme idea. Leigh’s submitted theme really captured our interest with the Van Gogh aspect which met our dark and twisty theme desires and also captured the derivation from Striker’s Star Struck name. We hope that the theme has as much appeal for our puppy buyers and should be very easy to translate into registered names by including “starry” or “starry night.” We really love that The Starry Night is considered as Van Gogh’s magnum opus, something which we certainly aspire to with these puppies. We have also been long time fans of the brilliant Don Mclean song, Vincent, which you can hear below.

The runner up theme was an especially tight race as there were so many great submissions. In the end it was “Woodcrest Strikes Gold” which stood out. It carried through a great derivation of Striker’s registered name with “Strikes” and that Yellow RR looks like she might be a Goldie to me.

Oh my gosh I’m so excited! Thank you! My Catahoula dog, Mr. Blue, is so happy he’s sleeping off his excitement. I’ll remind him of this great prize when he wakes up.

I love Van Gogh. Have a couple of his pictures on my wall at home – not originals, of course! I love his stuff almost as much as Monet! Can’t go wrong with that theme! Good job.
