It’s another dozen for Woodcrest! (and Striker too!)
Not to be outdone by her daughter Tory who had 12 April Fools in 2008, Kadie was determined to have her own dozen. That’s right I said another litter of 12 puppies has hit the ground at Woodcrest in the form of our 2009 Striker x Kadie litter.
Congratulations to proud Papa Striker! This is Striker’s second litter of 12 puppies, the first being his 2008 Striker x Mona litter which was bred by Joy Thompson of Essex, VT. 12 seems to be the magic number around these parts lately. Striker is also the father of our Porsche who finished her championship in just two weeks on the Florida show circuit as well as Dreama who went Reserve Winners during Montgomery weekend.
Congratulations to happy Kadie! This is Kadie’s largest litter. Her first litter was of 10 puppies in 2005 which produced Tory who went on to attain her championship in a single weekend with 4 majors. Kadie’s second litter with Max produced 6 adorable creatures including our Ava who is already on her way to a championship at just 15 months old.
In all this promises to be a beautiful litter.
When I titled yesterday morning’s post, “Thar She Blows!” I certainly didn’t expect the final results to be quite so volcanic. We ended up with 7 boys and 5 girls. All puppies are doing fantastic as is surprisingly upbeat mom Kadie. Some girls are more taken with being a mom than others and Kadie is certainly one of those enthusiastic types who lives for her pups. The whelping went quite smoothly. The last puppy took her time, but is just an lively and hungry as all the others. We used Whelp Wise with this litter and highly recommend their services.
6 of the 12 puppies weighed in at a full pound while the smallest was only a few ounces behind. We are extremely happy with these weights. If you would like to compare weights take a look at the birth weights on our last litter of 12 puppies and you will see that these guys are actually a little heftier. (You will also notice the trend for the girls to hang out and let the boys come first in order.) Good weights bodes well for the puppies as does their liveliness and desire to eat. You will see in the photos, they all appear equally healthy and happy.
For those looking for a puppy out of this litter, please give us at least 3 days before expecting to hear from us. We are extremely busy around here and need to let the activity settle and also take the time to look at the wait list and decide what we have available. At that point calls will be made to those we would like to offer puppies to. In the case of this litter, four puppies will be going to show homes. That means we will be able to take deposits for 8 puppies. We are not sure at this time if we will be able to guarantee male/female to those making deposits, but we will do our best to make sure everyone is happy (we probably will be able to guarantee to at least a couple people who are looking for a male only). Please email us in the mean time to confirm you interest in a puppy from this litter and also please indicate if you are looking for a MALE ONLY, a FEMALE ONLY, or are flexible and have NO PREFERENCE. For more information about our selection process please visit the FAQ & Policies page on our website.
We welcome everyone’s Congratulations (which has already started to stream in) at this time, either as comments on this post or by email, but please give us some time to respond (especially to availability inquiries) as we are very busy.
Congratulations Striker and Kadie on a lovely litter!

Many congratulations to Kadie, Striker, Woodcrest and Whelp Wise! Another incredible job well done!
Please send me a cuddly, playful boy! I am in need of a life partner and since I was one of twelve I am guessing we would have a lot in common and it would work out great if he is one of twelve also!
I am very affectionate and you should know I will love him FOREVER!!
