2008 Striker x Kadie Breedings

To call this a 2008 litter is a bit misleading. The breedings for the litter occurred in 2008, however, the puppies will be born in 2009 (provided the breeding takes). Kadie was due to go into heat in October at which time we made preparations for sharing information with you and at that point it would have been truly a 2008 litter. That is why everything is still labeled as a 2008 litter, but I’m working on updating that.
However, Kadie did not go into heat until late November and the progesterone numbers were not right for breedings until middle of December, all things we do not have much control over. Kadie was late enough going into heat that we considered that she might have skipped a heat or had a silent heat in October, but we were pleased to see that she went into heat like clockwork the day after another one of the girls had come into season.
We have updated the litter page with some information about the breeding and progesterone numbers. You will notice that her progesterone did not start rising until day 26 which is a bit longer than we typically see here. By comparison her daughter Tory (mother of our 2008 Max x Tory litter born April 1st) had progesterone that spiked on day 15. Every dog is different.
Kadie’s progesterone (how progesterone works) was 2.8 on 12/17, 12.5 on 12/20, and 18.5 on 12/22. We will consider LH on 12/16 and ovulation (progesterone over 5.0) on 12/18. Breedings for the litter took place on days 27, 29, and 31 (12/18, 12/20, and 12/22 respectively). Calculating the due date using the 63 days from ovulation method we have a litter due date of 2/19/09. We will perform an ultrasound at about 30 days to confirm the breeding, that would be after 1/17, probably the week of 1/19.
We will let you know when the ultrasound is scheduled and the results when we have them.
